5th Annual Conference

South West Futures: economic prosperity, housing and climate change

The South West Observatory is a network of experts working towards a common vision that all policy making in and about the South West is based on sound evidence.

The South West Futures conference was held on the 29 February 2008 at the Thistle Hotel in Exeter and brought together policy makers and implementers, information gatherers and analysts to stimulate cross-thematic thinking on the major policy issues facing the region that are likely to be covered in a new Single Regional Strategy: economic prosperity; sustainability and climate change; and housing and population. Knowledgeable speakers and panel discussion considered where we are now and where we might like to be across these themes, so that informed decisions can be made on the appropriate paths to follow from here to an envisioned future.

The day showed the importance of good evidence and analysis through exploring our current understanding of the issues and highlighting known unknowns.
